Welcome

Hi! My name is Ailsa Wright and I am an 18 year old student from Northampton! Last year, I set myself the challenge to climb the seven summits, the highest mountain on each of the seven continents, in order to raise money for the amazing Make a Wish Foundation, which grants magical wishes to children with life threatening illnesses.

Make a Wish FoundationIt took us a while to start getting my challenge into the local media, and raise enough to complete the first climb, and in October 2007 I reached Uhuru Peak on Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa. Over Christmas 2007/2008 I travelled to Argentina to attempt Mount Aconcagua, at 6962m the secondhighest of the seven. Unfortunately i had to turn back at the Caneletta, at about 6700m, so close to the summit due to injury, ending in a helicopter evacuation off the mountain! I got so close to the top that there is no way i am giving up on my dream! I am already planning a return expedition next year !  As i was told on Aconcagua - Every good story has a twist in the tale!

In April 2008 - with my A level Exams rapidly approaching, laden with text books and Mountain climbing equipment i set off to Australia to climb the smallest of the bunch, Mount Kosciuszko. We reached the summit to a stunning sunrise on the 14th of April. In the mean time we are now working on planning the next few expeditions, Mount Elbrus and the harder Mount McKinley/Denali in Alaska, as well as starting to look foward to the crown jewel of mountains... Everest.

Elbrus (18,481ft) Europe
Vinson (16,067ft) Antarctica
Kosciuszko (7,310ft) Australasia

The Seven Summits are:

Everest (29,029ft) Asia
Aconcagua (22,840ft) South America
Mckinley (20,320ft) North America
Kilimanjaro (19,339ft) Africa
