Hi! My name is Ailsa Wright and I am an 18 year old student from Northampton!

Last year, I set myself the challenge to climb the seven summits, the highest mountain on each of the seven continents, in order to raise for the amazing Make a Wish Foundation, which grants magical wishes to children with life threatening illness.

Apart from climbing mountains... I’m really interested in music, and have played clarinet with the ATC National Concert Band, in concert with various RAF bands, and have toured with them to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.  I also play Piano, Flute, and Recorder to grade 8 standard, which is a pretty unusual skill to have!

I am currently still at 6th form, having just completed my AS levels, in English Literature, French, Art, Music and Sport and am hoping to study either Arabic and Persian or International Relations at University

I’ve been a member of the Air Training Corps for the past 4 years, and have had some amazing experiences, I have flown in gliders and light aircraft and even had the opportunity to fly a RAF squirrel helicopter and learnt to fly aerobatics.  I’ve met some brilliant people on camps and courses at RAF bases all over the country, as well as (in true air cadet style) collecting many badges and awards for rifle marksmanship, Millennium Volunteers 200hrs Community Service, Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards. Though being in the Air Cadets isn’t all fun… they make you study too! Last year I completed a BTEC first diploma in Aviation Technology, and am finishing off  a BTEC in Music.
